Some judges are reluctant to give that perfect 10 and need an extra push:
Postell capped off Utah's best vault set of the year with a vault she stuck on the landing. One judge saw it as a 10.0 routine. The other judge, Mary Ann Mahoney, gave it a 9.95 - that is, until she saw the other judge's score and quickly changed her mark to a 10.0 as well. Mahoney's action was wrong, since[ Read More... ]

Actually, it might be 3 weeks between the actual competitions (depending on the scheduling for each category), but they do go to Germany earlier before the competition.

It can get really tiring to have back-to-back competitions, but 2 weeks space in between should be good enough. 3 weeks would have been better though - most countries already have done their nationals it looks like from the news, and naming their Worlds team. Last year before the Worlds there was talk that the camp training might have been too much, contributing to over-use injuries. Maybe[ Read More... ]

USA Nationals is about two weeks before the Worlds, which is the set-up for which teams go to the Beijing Olympics. Is it too close?? Marta thinks it's good:

I agree. Makes sense! The gyms probably don't pay that much for the lower level teachers/coaches, so they can't be that picky. Reminds me of the Oprah show they did on losing weight and they picked like 5 women and 1 man to do the program. The man is an owner of a workout gym and he was saying how he feels he's a fraud/fake for being overweight and out of shape and owning the gym.

So you're about 5.15 feet...(1 meter = 3.2808399 feet) It's easier to do the skills if you're in shape, but it's not like you have to be skinny or super skinny. Muscle is good, you can build some more muscle before your first gymnastics class, and you can also build more muscle there too! Have fun! When are you going to start?

Jana's back layout to her knees was cool. Bela is a good promoter b/c he's so enthusiastic - sometimes he mixes up his 'his' and 'her' lol, no big deal though, my coach does it too actually. Maybe cuz there's no his or his in Romanian as well as a lot of other languages. It kind of looks like Nastia and Chellsie and Jana pulled up their shorts a little too high, to make them shorter. I got my back walkover before bridge kickover too - but in a lot of classes they sometimes don't give you the option to do a back walkover until you pass the level with the bridge kickover - mine wasn't like that though, which is fun because it could be more tailored to each gymnast.

the flat flexmetal kind is great! ya we use them on the ankles and waist too. just for conditioning; we don't use them while doing skills like some other gyms do, cuz that changes ur whole balance and center of gravity, and can mess up the skill.

cool, thanks for the link! that show is interesting! there was a fire eating guy and a guy that can rip a phone book in half (from the outside with the phonebook as a whole, not by opening it and then just splitting it in half) on it before.

you know the show where the contestant matches descriptions of people with the people...Mary Lou Retton was matched as the one on the Wheaties Box - she takes off her high heels and does a back handspring to show it - like riding a bike right?! lol :D check out her back handspring on the show on youtube: (March 23rd Identity show)
