waist / ankle weights
what kind of waist / ankle weights do you use for gym conditioning? i have the kind that have those slots in them where you can add and take off weights (not that we're taking off any weight out of it! lol) - it's bumpy - not good for wearing on the waist - too uncomfortable! i got it from big5, it was the only kind they have (5 lb pair). it's ok for ankles, not great though. now we ordered the flat flexmetal kind from the internet! should be great for using on ankles and waist! (you know we just attach the 2 weights together to go around the waist - does everyone at other gyms do that?)

the flat flexmetal kind is great! ya we use them on the ankles and waist too. just for conditioning; we don't use them while doing skills like some other gyms do, cuz that changes ur whole balance and center of gravity, and can mess up the skill.

a couple of groups in my gym do use the ankle weights on their waist for some skills also besides for conditioning cuz their coaches tell them too - my group doesn't - my coach doesn't think it's a good idea to use weights for skills for the same reason u said fliwhip; i agree too! :D the flat weights are a lot better than the bumpy ones! especially for running!! i like the flex metal kind that is like a sheet of metal weight.

we use the flat kinds at my gym too. the younger girls use the 2 pound pair and the bigger girls use the 5 pound pair ones. just for conditioning. we don't do skills in them.

some of us got a new leather covered flex metal weights - they're more expensive but so far seems like much higher quality and easier to keep in good shape than the fabric nylon ones - you can just wipe off the chalk and water or sweat watever! good esp when u do cast handstands with the weights on ur waist and like chalky bar conditioning, and when it gets really hot in the gym! :-)

I use the flex metal kind too. The sand ones are good in that they don't poke at you like those weights with those removable tube weights in them.
