The bars came down at a gym I was at during a girl's practice - looks like they weren't put back up quite correctly after a recent meet, with the parts that lock it in place. Here's a video of another one Rick from gymnasticscoaching put up: Naoual Ouazzani Chahdi Bars-disaster 2008 Euro trials Looks like her right foot lands on cement - there's a reason to[ Read More... ]

Tighten up and check the bars! Especially when the gym equipment is set-up and down for competitions/different events, etc. If you end up with an 'extra' part, it probably isn't one! Interesting related: From IG digital "1962: As routines got more complex, people stood on the base to secure the free-standing bars."

But as soon as the equipment was put back up, Niles would re-chalk her hands and get right back on the bars...the[ Read More... ]

David Kikuchi:
"I would be the one with less physical talent," says Kikuchi, 27, a leading member of the strongest Canadian men's gymnastics team in decades. "Nothing came that easily to me. I wasn't able to do the skills right away. It took me a long time to get to be on the national team." That sounds a little modest, considering Kikuchi's career. I think that they may perform well this year bc they have some pretty stable gymnasts like Zhou Zhou Ru. This may not be one of their most exciting teams but I can see them actually hitting their routines which is a good thing.

Great article! There's a photo of Cheng Fei there too. Here's a summary of the info: Yang Wei is expected to lead the mens team to gold - he's an all-around gymnast. Xiao Qin, a.k.a. "King of the pommel horse'!! could get the world pommel horse champion title again. Liang Fuliang is also working for all-around like Yang.
