Chinese teams at Worlds - going for the gold!
The Chinese men's and women's team both have chances at gold medals - good chances! Here is an article analyzing the team and how they set it up: "Chinese gym squad interpretation for world championship" - http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2006-10/13/content_707970.htm
The 14-member roster released by the gymnastics authorities is well-planned to bring home the gold through their own strategy. By interpreting the list, it's easy to see that the aim of the men's team is to recapture the lost group gold medal of two years ago, as well going for gold in individual events, while the women aim at better results in group events.
It talks about the Chinese gymnasts and their strengths. Check it out!

Great article! There's a photo of Cheng Fei there too. Here's a summary of the info: Yang Wei is expected to lead the mens team to gold - he's an all-around gymnast. Xiao Qin, a.k.a. "King of the pommel horse'!! could get the world pommel horse champion title again. Liang Fuliang is also working for all-around like Yang. Feng Jing is on the Worlds team for China b/c of Huang Xu's injury - he won the Worlds individual AA title 6 yrs. ago. The new-comers: Chen Yibing - good at rings, and good for aa too; Dong Zhendong - good on pommel horse; Zou Kai - good at floor Leading the women's team is Zhang Nan - she won bronze at the World Championships adn Olympics individual all-round competitions. Cheng Fei is also another experienced gymnast for China's women's team - she speciailizes in floor and vault - she's the first Chinese woman to win a gold medal in vault at the World Championships! She got a vault named after her at the 2005 Worlds - called 'the Cheng' - it is considered perhaps the most difficult vault attemped by a female gymnast. Li Ya is strong on uneven bars / balance beam. Pan Panpan is good for all-around - good for all events. Huang Lu's specialty is uneven bars, Zhou Zhuoru's is balance beam. And 15 year old He Ning is good for all-around. Athens pommel horse champ Teng Haibin and 2003 balance beam world champ Fan Ye are left off the teams. "According to gymnastics authorities, the roster was made after serious consideration to ensure a balance of athletes in group events."

I think that they may perform well this year bc they have some pretty stable gymnasts like Zhou Zhou Ru. This may not be one of their most exciting teams but I can see them actually hitting their routines which is a good thing.
