This new way of doing roller/wheel abs conditioning uses one roller for each arm, custom-made rollers made of 2 high quality small tires connected with tape and pole, not the 2-handle bar ones - some of those are really flimsy and unstable, but big5 sold some good ones, I don't know if they have them anymore (they're white/black). Check out how to make custom-made abs roller and new techniques[ Read More... ]

The upcoming events listed for a local gymnastics club here has the only things listed as Upcoming Events on their website calendar "Tuition Due", next month event, "Tuition Due"...and also the holidays that the gym is closed. I used to go there and now we compete against them. They are really business focused and it shows! Why not take the time to post the club events as well besides when the[ Read More... ]

[quote]Chrystal Lim Wen Chean was leading until the third apparatus but when Thai gymnast Tharatip Sridee performed her last exercise, she was awarded the highest score to beat the Malaysian by one point. Chrystal took silver and defending champion Foong Seow Ting was awarded bronze. Malaysia's Uzbek coach Elena Kholodova could not hold back her tears as she hugged her gymnasts. Cheng Fei wins 3 golds with watered-down routines: [quote]Cheng, who had qualified eighth to the final after falling in qualifications, won the gold despite a large wobble on her tucked full and watering down her usual triple-twisting dismount to a 2 1/2. "I got a gold medal today, but I believe my strong points still lie in floor exercise and vault," she said. "But through today's[ Read More... ]

The 2 pvc pipes way also gives you more flexibility on how you can use the straps bar, like you can do one hand on the pvc/straps and one off, on the fabric wrist guard that is around the bar, w/o straps on that wrist, etc. Plus, the two pvc pipes does make it closer to how it is on the real bars, and you can shift where each hand is on the bars - but not with the one pvc pipe way.

It's not just better treatment by the gym owners, it can also be better preferred treatment by the coaches because they recognize the gym owners differing treatment... I would say this is really clear and evident at the gyms that are not such a good place to be a part of anyways...

Tumble traks been getting bad recently - the loose kind that doesn't feel springy, in this gym and in another I was visiting, it's weird. It used to feel nice and tight and bouncy - like a tight version of a regular trampoline and that is long. And even the texture's uneven. The old one got changed b/c it was old and got a soft sport esp. at the end of it where you punch a lot; but the new one[ Read More... ]

I think we're the opposite. Our equipment isn't the latest/greatest, but we have tons of great 8-inchers, 4-inchers, panel mats, sting mats, 2 port-a pits(that we use for bars, beam, and level 3/4 vault). But we do have a spring floor! although our gym is quite small so we don't have the whole thing up while the boys are in season b/c we need room for their highbar. I hate our tumble track! It[ Read More... ]

Annoying things you find in a gymnastics club: They say they have the state-of-the-art facility with the most up-to-date equipment, and an Olympic size floor -> they don't have even 1 sting mat, the couple 8-inchers you may find are all hollowed out-no support at all, a couple panel mats that have gone soft and look old and even have the names of another gym on them, and guess what, the Oympic[ Read More... ]

Hi flor, Since you are 17 years old and under 18 years old which is an adult - if it's the same as where you are as in the USA - you should hurry up and find a gym near you that you could go to if you would really like to - cuz at least here in the USA it can get harder to go to a new gymnastics club when you are 18 and over for the gymnastics club's insurance reasons - is it the same over[ Read More... ]

In my gym some of the coaches also have that thinking - to stay in the lower levels to win instead of going for the higher level. My coach isn't like that, yay! :D

Yes, she should have said that the gym is closing before taking people's money - maybe they don't want to go to the other gym. You could try complaining to BBB - the Better Business Bureau, if she doesn't answer your calls or emails. What's wrong with The Gymnastics Place - not good equipment, or instruction, or bad reputation? Either way, it is wrong for her to take your money when she[ Read More... ]
