I did switch leaps on beam for the first time last night. The other girls/coaches said they looked impressive.

Lucky! I want to work giants, but the coaches want me to wait til after season, and nationals(end of June). I started on the low fat beam and worked my way to the high regular beam!

release moves on bars!! at our gym, usually the level 4/5 start already with giants on the straps, and then later on on the pit bar high bar, then the regular bar. it's really cool when you get to learn stuff on your own pace and what you're good at - like if you get to 'go ahead' on the skills and not forced to 'hold back' b/c ur in season or u have to compete this level for the team...etc. but still following the progression - u know, straps, then pit bar, then regular high bar, etc. Actually, the younger kids that don't touch the mats on the low bar, do them there first before the high bar.
