2012 London Olympics: Why are so many of athletes wearing bright neon yellow shoes?
If you've been watching the 2012 London Olympics, by now you have probably noticed the bright neon yellow shoes that a lot of the Olympian athletes have been wearing - and also some bright neon green and bright neon red - either on the podium when accepting medals or doing interviews, like Michael Phelps and Missy Franklin, or on the track - there is a lot of yellow tennis shoes on the track! As you might have guessed, bright neon shoes are the fun growing fashion trend since Spring 2012, now by Olympians, and actually also celebrities like Disney's "Wizards on Waverly Place" Selena Gomez and Carly Rae Jepsen have worn them on the red carpet. From Ryan Seacrest's website (you know he is now on NBC too, commenting on the London Olympics!):
For Team USA, athletes receiving a special medal are given Nike apparel to wear on the stand. Many have chosen the bright, green shoes to complete their winning look. Nike explained the outfits on their website claiming, “The world is watching and we want to make sure the athlete looks and feels good in celebration of their achievement.”
Missy Franklin, Michael Phelps & Olympic Athletes Sport Neon Shoe Trend [PHOTOS] | Ryan Seacrest - The official entertainment news site of American Idol host and American Top 40 on air radio personality! The shoes do look fun! I like the neon leotards too. Good match! :p
