for artistic gymnastics: men's: 47 seniors, 38 juniors (19 in 14-15 yr. olds division, and 19 in 16-18 yrs. old division) women's: 18 seniors, 25 juniors Why the difference in #'s? And there are more women gymnasts than men gymnasts in the U.S. right? Maybe cuz they give the men's more of a chance to make it to the U.S. team? schedule: Wednesday August 15th 1pm: junior men's all-around and event finals 7 pm: senior men's first day of competition Thursday August 16th 1pm: junior women's first day of competition 7pm: senior women's first day of competition Friday August 17th 7pm: senior men's final day of competitition Saturday August 18th 1pm: junior women's final day of competition 6 pm: senior women

Thanks for the link! Great that they put up the picts. so fast! 3 picts. (out of 36) are on the Hamm twins! Guess they really would like them to come back as the leaders for the USA men's team! The white leos don't look so good, esp. at certain picture angles/close-ups...like m and m's, go color! lol :D

Practice at Visa Championships, Chellsie Memmel's blog: http://wcsnblogs.com/gymnastics/chellsiememmel There's a couple of pictures of her from practice there too. She's on Paul and Morgan Hamm's website, as special guest video: http://www.makingtheolympics.com/videos/chellsie.html (the Hamm twins website is http://www.makingtheolympics.com ) She's practicing her tumbling - in leo and shorts!!, which is sooo common in practices around the world; for her hard tumbling pass double backs she does it into the pit, for landing, prevent over-use injury etc., you know to reduce the poundings! She does beam practice on the floor for warm-up, then takes it to the beam. Shannon Miller's blog:
I leave on Wednesday for the Visa National Championships. I

Sasha Artemev plans on doing a triple-twisting Yurhcneko vault. He's taking out some of his difficulty to go for consistency - like Grandi I think it was that said that the gymnasts will figure it out that they can get a better score by doing the skills well than by adding more and more difficulty - on the other hand, some guys can add more and more difficulty and be consistent too, so that is what they are prob. thinking of when trying harder and harder skills.
At the U.S. Qualifier, Artemev finished seventh after the first day with multiple falls. He said he decided to scratch the second day of competition after suffering a slight injury on parallel bars. He's since made the decision to remove some of the skills to improve his consistency. "My routines were stacked [with tricks]," he told IG. "A lot of skills I couldn't handle."

Artemev says some of the skills he's removed from his planned routines include a double front pass on floor exercise, a Wu travel on pommel horse, a piked Belle on parallel bars and a Weiler kip and Stalder-Rybalko combination on high bar. "My routines are easier for me and I'm confident," said Artemev, who will turn 22 on Aug. 29. "I'm not competing on the edge." Artemev, a native of Minsk, Belarus, says he has been training the triple-twisting Yurchenko seriously for a few months. "It's one of those vaults that's on and off," he said. "If I get a good block and I stall it then I can land it. I have stuck a couple in the gym and it's like, whoa. But just landing it, even with a step, I'll be happy."
It's from: "Artemev Aiming for Consistency, History" The history is that if he lands his tripe twisting yurchenko vault, he'll probably be the first to land it in competition. He did it at the U.S. men's qualifier in June, but rolled out if it - it's a 7.0 A-Panel score, so he got 15.750 on the vault. link: http://www.intlgymnast.com/news/2007/aug/081407_artemev.html
