Warm-up is quite important thing before we do any type of physical exercise and workouts.We do splits and then oversplits in warm-up and again at the end of practice, more oversplits at the end than in the beginning. Plus a bit of conditioning in warm-up too. Besides running, stretching, etc.

I do just the 'regular' stuff for rips - clean it with soap and water, put bandaid on it, etc. Some of the girls have those gibson sticks, I don't know any of them that use Preparation H, or Udder Balm, or the other ways. Mary Lou Retton was on Access Hollywood tonight. In her interview she said when she was a gymnast many of the coaches and judges would tell her she doesn't have a gymnast's body because she wasn't skinny and she should lose weight, but she didn't listen to them. I heard that surgery on a torn ACL sometimes leads to the knee being kind of loose, not really intact, but I'm not sure how true that is.

Maybe it could strain your back/ be harder on your back if the weights feel heavy for you for doing v-ups. You could do walking v-ups with weights; that is easier on the back I think. When your lower back hurts, sometimes v-ups make it hurt more, and then you can just do walking v-ups and other conditioning instead,

Really big pit! From http://artsportsworld.com/NwGym/GymPix.htm . Looks like they are having a relay race. It's nice to have a good size big pit - then you don't have to worry about hitting edges from your dismount on bars where you really fly, or your dismount from the other events too, like if you over rotate too.

I use a tea bag. It stings a bit, but works fast. And then the whole neosporin-sock thing at night.

Some groups do timed running for 10 minutes, some are more laid back and don't time running, or are by the number of times of runs instead. And different kinds of running, like skipping, backwards, straight jumps, etc. Then warm-up with stretching. The run is good to warm up your muscles and help you stretch. Nastia is expected to be on the Worlds team for Stuttgart. She's at 80% according to her coach/dad now, but there's only like 2 weeks from the Nationals to the Worlds, so it will be easier for Martha to pick the team for Worlds based on the performances at Nationals, especially as the girls are getting over inuries and showing what they can do. Hi Flor, welcome! That's great that you learned front handsprings already - it's a level 4 or 5 skill. Since you haven't gone to gymnastics class yet, did you practice it on the grass? Soft grass without sticks in them are good for gymnastics practice! Sometimes we also do some simple tricks at the beach too! :D
