if you get really pealy fast - like after just a couple turns - and the chalk isn't working, try the gym slippers - until you can take out the pirouette turns from your beam routine in optionals!

it's kind of like on bars - maybe ur skin will get harder and stronger after some practice and then won't peel off so soon from the turns. chalk is a good idea. Dominique Moceanu used to wear those beam slippers, so do some of the international gymnasts, not much in the U.S., but you could try them out, they're like around $15. also, another option is to take out those pirouetting turns on the[ Read More... ]

grips are great! all the high-level gymnasts at my club wear grips. everyone actually starts wearing the dowel grips from like level 4.

anyone get skin peeling on ur feet from doing full turns on beam? any tips besides chalking ur feet? seems like wearig the beam shoes would be uncomfortable for the other skills on the beam.
