Where I live the top elite gymnasts will train near 40 hours a week from the time they are 11 or 12 years old. Most train every morning for about 3 1/2 hours and then attend school for a few hours and train again every afternoon for about 3 1/2 hours. They would train around 5 hours on a saturday and have sundays off. Most are very happy and enjoying their training, and despite have much less hours at school than their classmates their grades are excellent.
