"She's going to take part in a clinic for children," said Leslie Vickery, office manager with Rainbow Gymnastics on Pa. 16. Strug will work with students on the floor, then join them for lunch on Sept. 13. She'll deliver a motivational speech during that time and answer questions, too, Vickery said. "We're celebrating National Gymnastics Day that day," she said. Vickery said she contacted several famous gymnasts for the event and reached Strug through her official Web site. "Mary Lou Retton was my first choice, no offense," Vickery said with a laugh. Strug's scheduled appearance has generated a buzz in the regional gymnastics community. "We've had other gyms that said they're going to come," Vickery said. The event, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., is open to the public. A $40 fee covers the clinic and lunch.
