Matting important...don't call it being picky!
It's good to make sure the matting is good (not too empty, as the old ones get esp. from the boys' landings!!) and in good positions - better to just ignore those couple few that say it's being picky, wave your hands, say 'ya ya ya' lol, and put the mats where it is good for the landings!! Like the former competitive gymnast Faith Wagner knows : [quote]The Neenah gymnast made a solid landing off the uneven bars at the 1991 WIAA regional competition, but the floor matting separated, causing her heel to hit the unforgivable gym floor.

yup! i like to put a mat over two 8-inchers when they are used in a row, for the crack. :D

scratchy mats are bad too! once they get scratchy from being so old, they are so not good landing mats either, besides getting all scratched up if you hit it! good for piling in some 8-inchers in the pit though.
