Shannon Miller tumbling on beam in 2008 Beijing Olympics claritin allergy commercial
2008 Beijing Olympics Open Ceremonies were awesome! Did you see Shannon Miller's claritin commercial - it was on a couple of times. She's tumbling on beam and also helping with some coaching. So, Shannon can still tumble on beam. lol. It was good, back handsprings on beam. Not on youtube yet. Check this out though: http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=73534

They are zoomed out so much on Shannon Miller's tumbling on beam it is like they are saying it is not really her. I like Vanessa Atler's reese's pieces commercial - how you eat a reese's pieces - she flips over it and then eats it.

On the Shannon Miller commercial they zoom out when she is supposedly tumbling and dismounting on the beam, and then zoom in when she is coaching with the same leotard on with tight pants over it. Stunt double? Nadia Comaneci did a double back flip in one of the interviews a while ago, a lot later after her AA gold; Mary Lou Retton did a back handspring pretty recently in her appearance on that show where you guess what each person's occupation on the panel is - but it wasn't on the beam.

If they didn't use a stunt double in Shannon Miller's commercial, then they did a bad job of taping...they didn't even do a close-up of her when she did her dismount on beam, or her tumbling on beam, and then do for her coaching, and her dance move on floor.

According to this, Shannon Miller still performs on the 4 inch beam:
"I am still performing so it is essential for me to be able to focus on the four-inch balance beam without being distracted by my allergies, so I can't risk taking an allergy medication that may make me drowsy," says Miller. "Now I take Claritin because it works hard to provide relief from my worst allergy symptoms all day without making me drowsy. Whether I'm speaking professionally, spotting children at gymnastics clinics, or hosting my own television show, I need to stay alert and focused so I can perform my best."
"Coping with Allergies: How World Champion Gymnast Shannon Miller Manages her Allergy " http://gymchat.com/messageboards/showthread.php?t=78129

Shannon Miller did similar tumbling on the floor and beam at the "Frosted Pink with a Twist" gymnastics exhibition that was on ABC yesterday (taped in September in San Diego), so she can do those skills.. On the commercial though, she does have a dismount on beam also, here she just jumped off the beam at the end of her routine.
