Baseball National League Championship Series lunch-time fever, Game 3 Giants/Phillies
Tuesday the SF Giants come home for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Phillies. NLCS Game is on at 1:19pm...baseball lunch time fever... The Giants' lineup is a mystery, up in the air because of Juan Uribe's injury, the opposing team has a left-handed starter for the first time this postseason, and leadoff hitter/center-fielder Andres Torres is in a slump. Manager Bruce Bochy considering different lineup options. -Juan Uribe: left wrist injury, Monday MRI results not available yet -Mike Fontenot: 2-for-12, shaky defensively (started at third base in the past four postseason games) -Edgar Renteria: has a completely torn muscle - left biceps muscle tore all the way on a swing during Game 2 of the Division Series - says feels better now than when just strained - nerve endings torn too?
"It feels good," he said. "No pain right now." Asked about the possibility of starting today against Philadelphia's Cole Hamels, Renteria said, "I'm ready, I'm ready. I have to show I can still play."
(via Giants: Lineup shakeup for Game 3) -Pablo Sandoval: 1-for-6 to start the Division Series, working hard
"I've been ready every day," Sandoval said. "I'm just waiting for the opportunity." Asked if he might be the man to give the Giants' offense, batting .206 in the postseason, a spark, Sandoval smiled. "I don't know," he said. "I trust my teammates. We have a good lineup. Cody Ross, he can do everything. ... We just have to relax, not try to do too much."
(via Giants: Lineup shakeup for Game 3) -Juan Torres: 12 strikeouts, center-fielder 3-for-25; hitting the batting cages hard -Aaron Rowand (former Phillies outfielder) possible replacement for Torres - Bochy said in an interview that he will talk to both players after workout and decide Series tied 1-1. Underdog Giants closer to the World Series, lead 2-1 in the N.C.L.S. Giants won against the Phillies today 3-0. Combination of great pitching and just enough offense. Barry Bonds appearance fired up the crowd. The young team came together.
-Edgar Renteria: has a completely torn muscle - left biceps muscle tore all the way on a swing during Game 2 of the Division Series - says feels better now than when just strained - nerve endings torn too?
Must be like a papercut and a regular small cut...less friction.
