I was shocked when I checked out the news section and read that Nastia didn't win bars. She's one of my faves! I didn't find out a/b aa til a few hours ago.

Ya, Tweddle from GB won bars...Nastia had a small step forward on her landing, Tweddle had no misstep, Nastia's routine was really good, Tweddle's was really aggressive with back-to-back releases. Scores are in from day 1 of event finals competition! here are the scores. highlights: Marian (Romania) won gold on floor, Artemev got the bronze for USA in pommel horse, Jordan (Bulgaria) got silver on rings (now he has to go get surgery on his shoulder, prob. b/c of all the pressure from the rings event, he put off surgery to compete at Worlds), Oksana competed for Germany and got the bronze! she's the oldest women competitor! Alicia got the silver on vault for the USA. Uneven bars event Britain's Tweddle got gold over Nastia, then it was Ferrari of Italy who got the AA yesterday! "U.S. Gymnast Liukin Loses in an Upset Defending Gold Medalist Nastia Liukin Settles for Silver at World Gymnastics Championships" - http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=2592288&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312 Nastia:
"I guess it's a little disappointing, but a silver is still great," she said.
Martha Karolyi on Nastia's uneven bars routine:
"I feel a little frustrated," Karolyi said. "Her routine was so exquisite, her form and technique was, by far, the best. It's getting frustrating. There are a lot of European judges, and you start to feel like they're saying, `America was too good at last year's worlds, let's go out there and prove Europe is just as good.'"
Difference in sticking the landing....
There was one small mistake for Liukin, a tiny step forward on the landing. Yet she got execution scores of 9.1 through 9.3 from a panel composed of judges from Germany, Uzbekistan, Island, Russia, North Korea and Brazil. Tweedle, who finished third on bars at last year's worlds, didn't misstep on her landing and got marks as high as 9.5.
China, more medals:
"The biggest stars of the first day of event finals were, once again, the Chinese, who added three more golds to their stash from Xiao Qin on pommel, Chen Yibing on rings and Cheng Fei on women's vault. They now have six, including both team golds and the all-around men's won by Yang Wei."
Ferrari's Comaneci on bars was cool! It was funny, in the skill it's a small cast then flip forward to catch the bar, so it's like with no set-up and so Bart Conner was "wow" and Tasha (she does the commentary with Bart for the womens competition) says something like 'that's a Comanec', Bart knows of course cuz it's named after his wife! Seems like Blaine Wilson and Tasha have the announcing the skills as part of their job description - and it's nice! Not that many girls do the Comanec in international competition, Vanessa Atler had it in her routine, and it was inconsistent. Diego's floor routine was really awesome!! Blaine was even having a hard time trying to keep up listing all the skills he was doing!
