While I like the look of just a plian leo for competition, I think we lose a lot of people from competitive gymnastics in their teen years and adult years because they feel uncomfortable appearing in public dressed in just a leo. About the sticky spray - I heard that if you use it underneath your velvet leotards it will pull out the threads!

Who do you think will be the alternate for the USA women's gymnastics team? If there are no aggravating injuries etc., Nastia, Alicia, Shawn, Shayla, Ivana are in and prob. also Samantha Peszeck, Bridget Sloan for the alternate. The alternate will be picked September 1, after podium training at Worlds - Martha will be looking at their training closely!

Shorts with leos are cool: Stefani Bismpikou at the Euro's this year: Velvet leo with velvet shorts looks cool. I wear the GK ones too, they're really comfortable and look good. The velvet ones are good because they don't rip so easily like the cotton ones, and they're softer than the nylon ones.

A lot of the girls at my gym wear shorts at practice. It would be cool if it was an option at competitions too.

the Chinese team use the really high cut leotards to make their line look longer - gymnasts like Khorkina don't have that problem though. so, I agree, shorts should be optional in competition too, like in rhythmic gymnastics.

Shorts in competition are winning....by a lot. :D It is nice to have a choice, like in rhythmic gymnastics. Ask your coaches and club owners to bring up changing the code of points to allow shorts in competition in their next Congress meeting!!

the switch to allow the girls to compete in tank leotards rather than just long sleeve leotards was a good change, now time for allowing girls to compete in shorts too!

shorts should totally be optional for practice and for competition - it's pretty obvious that the older girls do prefer it - the Romanian girls especially during the gymnastics meet they have shorts on right before they go up on the event and then just take it off right before they compete - they were even in shorts in that first post from the Aarhus World Championships for their team picture![ Read More... ]
