California's men's distance medley relay ran an NCAA automatic qualifying time, set a school record and set a meet record by winning the race in 9:29.71 on Friday at the MPSF Indoor Championships at Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle. The quartet of senior Mark Matusak, senior Jake Hanson, freshman Sebastian Sam and junior Michael Coe broke the school mark of 9:33.77 Cal set in the 2007 NCAA Indoor championships.
