Former California All-American Dana Vollmer swam an American-record and personal-record time of 1:55.29 to qualify for the 200-meter freestyle final at the 2009 FINA Swimming World Championships on Tuesday night in the Stadia del Nuoto in Rome. Vollmer won the second 200-freestyle semifinal with her American mark, which is the second-fastest time of the eight swimmers who reached the final. Golden Bears sophomore Sara Isakovic, swimming for Slovenia in the same 200-free semi as Vollmer, posted a time of 1:57.04 but did not advance to the final.
