Former Cal standout Milorad Cavic, who won the silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, captured the gold medal in the 50-meter butterfly Monday, July 27 at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome. Cavic, a top competitor for the Golden Bears from 2003-06, is the second Cal men's swimmer to win gold at the World Championships when touched at 22.67 in the 50 fly. He joins junior Nathan Adrian, swimmer of the anchor leg of the United States' victorious 400 free relay on Sunday.
