Cal Men's Swimming Performs Well in Friday Prelims
The No. 11-ranked University of California men's swimming team had another successful prelim session Friday morning at the 2008 Pac-10 Conference Swimming Championships, hosted at the Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach, Calif. In the 100 back, junior David Russell captured the prelim with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 46.72. The Bears had two more strong efforts in the 100 back as freshman Martti Aljand swam a career-best and NCAA consideration time of 48.25 to sit in fourth, and senior Mark Eckert produced an NCAA consideration time of 48.37 to place fifth entering tonight's final.
