Defending Premier League champion Leicester City expected to come out of their opener with three points, but fell 2-1 to a Hull side with a chip on their shoulder in a stunning start to the 2016-17 season. Leicester looked the brighter side in the first half, with Demarai Gray and Jamie Vardy missing opportunities, before Hull took the lead just before the interval with a Adama Dimoande overhead kick following a corner. Leicester came out of the blocks with all guns blazing in the second period, winning a penalty within 15 seconds after Gray was tripped by Tom Huddlestone on the very edge of the box.
