George North stars in emotive Gillette short film, The Honest Player
George North will start for Wales against Italy in the Six Nations on Sunday, and barring any major surprises, he'll be on tour with the British & Irish Lions in New Zealand later in the year. Inspired by the classic Jim Telfer speech, Gillette have put together this short film. It's called 'The Honest Player', and celebrates their sponsorship of the 2017 Lions. Featuring winger North and the emotive words of legendary Telfer, we get taken on a journey that includes George in his training and some classic footage of memorable Lions moments. "For George and the Lions, preparation off pitch leads to precision on it. For Gillette, it’s all about giving guys the precision tools to look their best and prepare for the day ahead," Gillette said.Â*Â* Still only 24-years-old, North already played a part in the victorious British and Irish Lions tour of Australia in 2013, when he scored a try in the first Test as he broke from the halfway line and beat four players. He scored again in the third Test as the series win was sealed, but perhaps the most memorable moment of the tour was that powerful fireman's carry on Wallaby fullback Israel Folau. For Gillette, official sponsor of the upcoming tour, preparation and precision is key to success, so they will be with the Lions every step of the way as they take on their next big challenge. The upcoming tour consists of 10 games throughout New Zealand, between June 3 and July 8, including three Test matches against the double World Champions. "The pressure they’ll face is surmounted by nothing else. They need to be prepared both mentally and physically for what they’re going to face in New Zealand," said Lions legend Telfer. Gillette will bring the partnership to life in all major retailers across the UK through a competition offering consumers the chance to win the ultimate trip to New Zealand to watch the Lions.
