Here's one of the discussions on gym freezing temps: http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/viewtopic.php?p=79 . There are regulations on the temperature in schools, why not have it for USAG member gymnastics clubs when the difference in risks is arguably multiplied. [quote=Aerial] Actually, according to the comment, the error was that they said there was an injury caught on tape, when there[ Read More... ]

Good things to keep in mind, "Tips for parents of young gymnasts", from a couple years ago, http://www.ocregister.com/ocr/2004/12/19/sections/news/news/article_349501.php . It's from a special investigation by ocregister.com, "Gymnasts in pain", http://www.ocregister.com/investigations/2004/gymnastics/ . In summary, check how the coach talks to the gymnasts, ask and talk with the parents[ Read More... ]

Today "Daddy Day Care" was on again on cable and I watched some of it - it is a very good movie! (yes there is a point to this in regards to this thread / a cave-like gym!) - as you may know, in this movie there is this overly-discplined, strict, callous, indifferent, uncaring school that goes by these set rules that don't take into consideration the young kids who are like 3-5 years old, and[ Read More... ]

We don't have that problem in our gym actually, the 2 head coaches are the co-owners and they keep the[ Read More... ]

Hello, My daughter just moved up to optionals this summer and so now she has the morning Saturday practices. What I couldn't believe is that when I dropped her off and went inside the gym it was freezing!! I couldn't believe that the girls were expected to workout in these conditions, and in leotards. I am sure the temperature was not more than 62 degrees. What do you guys think? Isn't[ Read More... ]
