pole vault
When I joined track to do long/triple jump, I never would have expected to be a pole vaulter, nor did I want to. Then the ocach comes up to me and says, "you're pole vaulting." I was nervous at first, but it's awesome. You really can fly, and it's easier for me b/c of my speed, my jump, my upper body strength, and awareness of my body-gymnasts really are perf! This one guy, who wen to state last year, used to be a gymnast. His warm-up was walking on his hands one lap around the track(400 meters) He'dives, too.

There was a thing on tv on Amy Chow a while ago that she was competing pole vaulting for Stanford. Some of the gymnasts from my club also did pole vaulting in college. Your coaches probably think you'll be good at it since you're a gymnast! ...fly in the gym...fly outside from a pole....lol :D Do you guys wear a helmet during pole vaulting?

FYI he pickedit, and yes, in my state, helmets are mandatory. I placed second at my first meet, jv, and will be competing @varsity indoor conference next week.
