It's not just better treatment by the gym owners, it can also be better preferred treatment by the coaches because they recognize the gym owners differing treatment... I would say this is really clear and evident at the gyms that are not such a good place to be a part of anyways...

Yes, we just got a new gym/dance director as of January and she is awesome. She likes me as staff because I have come through for her on last-minute replacements and such, I always try to make time for the extras she asks me to do(preschool camps, etc. ) She likes me as a gmynast because I am very determined and dedicated, as well as a leader for my level as well as the younger girls.

Maybe it's different at a ymca vs. a gym club? More classes / coaching positions to fill at a gym club? You hear a lot of clubs constantly looking to hire for rec. classes. My previous club hosted the high school teams for free just so they could get them to work there later on, and asked the coaches to help out (in another words volunteer) with coaching the high school team girls because of it.[ Read More... ]

I am in that situation(16 year old level seven, school age/a little team coach) but I really don't see any above mentioned things happening. Yes, I have a better relationship with the director(as she's also my boss and I have proved myself to be a good employee) and am seen as more responsible than other girls, but I've earned that part from my years as a gymnast. Anyone notice at your gym that if you're a coach too besides a gymnast, you get treated better? It's like if you're a coach at the gym, they want you to keep coaching so they make like more than 10 times or something more than they are paying you, and so they brush aside things you do that are wrong and inappropriate to other gymnasts.
