That's a great montage of the named skills! List of innovators of skills: http://gymn-forum.com/innovators.html
Being the first to execute a gymnastics skill in international competition is an accomplishment highly regarded in the sport. Moves are often named after the gymnast who first performs them. Here is our list of "who was the first to...?".
The difference: skills aren't always named after the one who did it first, they have to have registered it also for it to be named after them. So the innovator and name of the skill doesn't always match. Though it should huh?!

post: http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/viewtopic.php?p=1978#1978 on topic release moves on bars Here's a toe-on Counter Kim "Toe on counter kim" It's a high school gymnastics competition, Alyson Buckly at Palatine high school . I guess it would be named after her if she competed it in JO. The Counter Kim is very difficult in the code of points and rarely attempted! Good for the high school student gymnast! That topic has a lot of other uneven bar release moves videos too.

switch-leg side aerial got named this May at JO Nationals, to Melissa Baudhuin
"At first, I really had no idea I could get something named after me. I just wanted to try something different," Baudhuin said. "It's like a no-handed cartwheel, except in midair I switch my legs so I land on the same foot I started with. I knew it was a trick I could pull off, but if I got too ahead of myself, I'd just get nervous and fall off, and that would be the end of that."

"We always just add on stuff for fun, but coach Dale told me to put it on beam, and that was pretty much it," Baudhuin said. "I checked the rule book, and the skill wasn't in there, so we had to submit it to a judge so we could use it in competition. Once we saw nobody had done it yet, we knew if we went to nationals I could get it named after me." Shayla Worley is going for the Onodi to two feet on beam getting named after her at Worlds:
"I'm super excited that hopefully I will compete my skill on beam (Onodi to two feet), and it will be named after me," Worley said. "The biggest goal is to help our team win the World Championships - to win that gold! All we need to do is hit. We are, in my opinion, by far the best team out there. All we have to do is get together that day and go out there and do our stuff, and I don't think anybody can beat us!"
http://intlgymnast.com/news/2007/aug/082307_usa.html
