The Navy gymnastics team began its 2016 campaign on Friday with a strong evening of action at the West Point Open. Taking on a field of five eastern foes, the Mids were in constant consideration for a top-two finish before being overtaken late and settling for third place by the slimmest of margins with a score of 415.8. In its first competition under the leadership of new head coach Kip Simons, Navy recorded a team aggregate that would have ranked second amongst its nine outcomes in 2015.
