The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Miguel Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list Friday rather than risk sending him to the mound with a strained right oblique. The move is retroactive to May 31, so Gonzalez could return as soon as next week. Gonzalez was scheduled to start Saturday against Oakland, but manager Buck Showalter decided against it.
