Australia's Worlds team named
"Gym squad rated best ever (Herald Sun) LEGENDARY Olympic coach Sergei Chinkar has rated the Australian women's gymnastics team the best ever after the seven-strong outfit was named yesterday." http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/viewtopic.php?t=1167 Chinkar (born in Belarus) coached Vitaly Scherbo to record win of six gold medals for the Soviet Union at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. [/quote] The team: Shona Morgan and Georgia Bonora (capable all-arounders) Ashleigh Brennan (floor and beam specialist) Daria Joura, Lauren Mitchell, Chloe Sims, and Hollie Dykes - as expected -travelling reserve will be announced 24 hours before the team qualifiers on September 2 Top 12 teams at 2007 Worlds qualify for next year's Beijing Olympics. Top 8 make it to the Spetember 5 team finals. Mitchell, Sims, Brennan and Morgan - were last year's travelling reserve, this will be their world championships debut, but they are all experienced overseas competitors. A lot of the women's teams have that vault problem, but are getting stronger in the event - like China's team.
