I don't think you will be able to "slide" the pvc pipe over the bar as they are pretty thick and stiff. When we replaced the pvc pipes on the bar we took the bar apart, and slid them on then.

So at our gym we're installing some new pvc pipes for strap use and are looking for some tips on how to do so. Is it necessary to remove the actual bar and slip them on, or do you just cut the pipe down the side and then stretch it over? Any help is appreciated! Thanks! -Scott
