Have you ever heard of a coach not spotting something on purpose when they are supposed to spot and are standing there to spot and said they would spot? The reason - to discipline apparently. I would expect that he would do something if he thought something dangerous would happen, but he is testing his own reflexes then too, on how fast he can do something to help. It's ridiculous.
