Sensei Mickey Davenport opened the Vallejo Judo Club in September 1989. The club was renamed Kyodo Judo Club in 1992. Sensei Mickey has developed 18 state and national champions to date, including five in the 2009 CJI State Championships in San Diego. The club has come full circle as Sensei Mickey has renamed the club in June 2009 to its original name, Vallejo Judo Club.
