Glasgow Grand Prix, Britain, Kelvin Hall
Britain bringing in experienced gymnasts and also new comers to competition. Romania's Steliana Nistor added a new combination of Maloney: "shoot 1/2 to handstand, Stalder shoot to high", bars A score goes up to 7.0 if she does all the difficulty. Russian Lyudmila Yezhova has husband 2004 Olympian Georgy Grebenkov as coach. According to IG, women practiced through routines and "The men took a much more relaxed approach to the training today, warming up skills rather than working full routines". lol more relaxed just like at some gyms how the girls have to line up, no talking, go through routines, etc., and the boys are more free. 2007 Glasgow Grand Prix Participants Nov. 9-11, Glasgow Austria: Marco Baldauf, Marco Mayr Belgium: Donna-Donny Truyens, Koen van Damme Canada: Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, Nansy Damianova Chile: Tomas Gonzalez Sepulveda China: Fan Ye, Zhang Nan, Zhou Zhuoru; Du Wei, Feng Zhe, Lu Bin Croatia: Tina Erceg; Tomislav Markovic, Robert Seligman, Filip Ude Cyprus: Giorgalas Iriodotos, Aristotelous Constantinos, Spanos Georgios Czech Republic: Kristina Palesova, Jana Sikulova, Nicole Pechancova Spain: Arkaitz Garcia, Christian Guillen, Javier Gomez Finland: Annika Urntho; Jani Tanskaneen, Tomi Tunha, Olli Torkkel France: Johan Mounard; Danny Rodrigues, Raphael Wignanitz Great Britain: Hannah Clowes, Kayleigh Cooke, Marissa King, Beth Tweddle; Adam Cox, Luke Folwell, Stephen Jehu, Daniel Keatings, Louis Smith, Kristian Thomas Germany: Jenny Brunner, Kim Bui, Julia Hanel; Brian Gladow, Robert Weber Greece: Kosmidis Eleftherios, Barmpakis Khonstantionos Hungary: Eniko Korcsmaros; Krisztian Berki, Vid Hidvegi Israel: Valeria Maksyuta Japan: Takehito Mori, Eiichi Sekiguchi Latvia: Yevgeny Sapronenko, Dmitry Trefilovs Luxembourg: Sascha Palgen Netherlands: Verona van de Leur, Sanne Wevers; Yuri van Gelder, Jeffrey Wammes, Epke Zonderland Norway: Espen Jansen Poland: Paula Plichta; Kamil Hulbuj Romania: Steliana Nistor, Daniela Druncea; Cosmin Popescu, Daniel Popescu, Robert Stanescu Russia: Lyudmila Yezhova Grebenkova, Daria Yelizarova; Alexander Balandin, Dmitry Gogotov, Sergei Khorokhordin, Konstantin Pluzhnikov, Anatoly Vasilyev Slovenia: Adela Sajn; Mitja Petkovsek, Aljaz Pegan, Saso Bertoncelj, Sebastijan Straus, Ziga Britovsek Slovakia: Alexander Benko, Samuel Piasecky Tunisia: Wajdi Bouallegue Ukraine: Marina Kostyuschenko, Marina Sergienko, Daria Zgoba; Vadim Kuvakin, Vitaly Nakonechny, Alexander Suprun United States: Darlene Hill, Natasha Kelly Venezuela: Regulo Carmona http://intlgymnast.com/news/2007/nov/110807_glasgow.html

Steliana Nistor making good comeback:
2007 world all-around silver medallist Steliana Nistor of Romania was the most successful female gymnast, qualifying to three event finals: uneven bars (second), balance beam (third) and floor exercise (first). Performing with sublime ease, Nistor re-affirmed her status as one of the sports leading ladies, as she effortlessly negotiated her new bars sequence (Maloney, shoot 1/2 to handstand, Ray) alongside an exciting array of tricks on balance beam and floor exercise (double layout, full-twisting double and an immaculate triple spin for good measure).
Natasha Kelley (USA): She's been out of the news / spotlight for a while.
Starting on bars, Kelley missed her forward clear circle before rekipping and sitting down her double front dismount to finish in 13th place. Kelley, who recently committed to the University of Oklahoma, stormed back on balance beam (nailed Arabian, standing full-twisting somersault) to qualify in sixth.
She does seem better on beam. Natasha's teammate Darlene Hill qualified in bars (6th place). Beth Tweddle qualified first for bars; she's aggressive on bars. Slovenia's Aljaz Pegan did "Pegan" release and triple back dismount on high bar! 2007 Glasgow Grand Prix Nov. 9, Glasgow Women's Vault 1. Eniko Korcsmaros HUN 13.988 2. Marissa King GBR 13.863 3. Aljaz Pegan release move called Pegan is USA's Mitch Gaylord's release move (double front) with a half twist. Here is the video showing his Pegan release and also triple back dismount!! From the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, event finals, it's the WCSN coverage with Bart Conner and Blaine Wilson:

Beth Tweddle:
Earlier she had performed a near flawless A-bars routine only to fluff her final element and lose momentum. On dismount, Tweddle then fell forward, putting her hands on the floor and dropping out of medal contention. Later, she was philosophical, shrugging off the disappointment. "Up until the last skill it was one of the better routines I'd done," she said. "If I want to get gold in Beijing next year I need to have everything perfect, so I tried out that skill. It didn't quite come off and when I tried to fix it, it all went a bit wrong. It's just one of those things. You can't always be on top. I'll go home to the gym and work on it for next year. "I'm hoping, however, that people are starting to realise there is more to me that just A-bars. I am a floor worker and an all-around gymnast, too. I don't want to be known as a one-trick pony."

In the men's floor event, Tomas Gonzalez Sepulveda (Chile) emerged as a rising star with a impressive routine which saw him win his country's first ever gold medal at world level. "In Chile, not many people practise gymnastics," he said. "Football is our big sport. I am the first person in my country to win a gold medal in World Cup gymnastics. I am the pioneer. It is very good and I am excited to have won."
Football, i.e. soccer.
On pommel horse Daniel Popescu (Romania) finished in first place, while Yuri Van Gelder (Netherlands) and Du Wei (China) took the top spots on rings and vault respectively. On parallel bars Mitja Petkovsek (Slovenia), a twice world champion on this apparatus, showed he is still the master to win gold. In a fiercely fought high bar competition Epke Zonderland (Netherlands) saw off Robert Weber (Germany) and Brian Gladow Germany) to claim victory. In the women's competition Steliana Nistor (Romania) took gold on A-bars, pipping the current European champion, Dariya Zgoba (Ukraine). Tweddle finished down in seventh. On beam, veteran Russian star Lyudmila Grebenkova, returning from her recent hiatus to get married, showed she's still got what it takes, performing a blistering routine to finish on top.
Congratulations! http://www.gymchat.com/messageboards/viewtopic.php?t=10004
