Shawn Johnson looks great. She skipped the floor because of her left knee torn acl from last year (skiing injury), but she looks like she is in great shape, and she did great in the CoverGirl Classic. Other comebacks: A-Sac - Alicia Sacramone, fall on floor on the tumbling pass with the 2 1/2 twist to punch layout - didn't make it around. But she has a lot of power tumbling. Chellsie Memmel - nice bar work Bridget Sloan ison the comeback trail. ...Nastia Liukin is there too, but as a commentator in the "Aroung the Gym" pre-show, with John Roethlisburger, and talking with Marta Karolyi on the sidelines. Nastia is actually on the selection committee for the US World's team...pretty good impression that Nastia is not making a comeback. If you recall, after Carly Patterson won the all-around gold at the Athens Games, she said pretty much right away that she was retiring - the feedback was that she announced too soon and couldn't take advantage of endorsement deals. Rebecca Bross is a fast aggressive bar worker, fall on her tkatchev bars release though. But there are lots of mistakes from the other gymnasts here and there. Aly Raisman - awesome floor.

Shawn Johnson is back to elite. Chellsie Memmel is back to elite. Alicia sacramone is back to elite. ...Agree with you on Nastia Liukin....Alicia was saying how she needed 2 years before the London 2012 Olympics to feel ready, and that she wouldn't want to leave just 1 year of competing/making the comeback like Shawn and Chellsie... Nastia doesn't seem like she is planning a comeback, though a great bars worker would be great for the US women's team. There was a shot of the selection committee for the 2011 World Championships coming up - Nastia Liukin, Marta Karolyi, and Steve Rybacki (Vanessa Atler's former coach). Doesn't seem like Nastia would have that position if she was going to come back and make a run for even the bars event. You could see Nastia and Marta sighing/disappointed after all the falls on bars. Aly Raisman and Jordyn Wieber look very strong. Some mess-ups for Rebecca Bross - fall on bars and beam.

Great first day of competition for Mihai's gymnasts Aly Raisman and Alicia Sacramone. 4 strong routines by Chellsie Memmel. Jordyn Weiber places first. Rebecca Bross good comeback after 2 shaky events bars and beam, landing all her tumbling passes on floor.

Go Cal! Amazing how many gymnasts from UC Berkeley men's gymnastics team are competing at Nationals! Great that the program is staying! How is it that men's gymnastics tv coverage starts from the 2nd night of competition, and not the first night? Not enough interest? The high flying vaults and high bar are awesome. The Dragulescu - 3 1/2, Kovacs with variations. John Roethlisburger is excellent at his commentator job, very relaxed, easy going, and fun.
