Redbird Diving Club is a great opportunity for beginner or advanced springboard divers to come improve their skills, learn new dives, get exercise, and have a lot of fun with other competitive and non-competitive divers.
Redbird Diving Club meets under the coaching of Phil Hoffmann, Illinois State University’s Head Diving Coach. Practice runs 4:30 to 6:30pm on Monday and Wednesday and 5:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday. Redbird Diving Club is open to all ages and all experience levels.
Redbird Diving Club Objectives
* Teach the basics of diving in a safe and educational environment
* Help divers with previous diving experience to improve their skills
* Train divers in specific skills using dryland equipment
* Have fun and learn new dives
What makes Redbird Diving Club a Safe and Educational Environment?
* Spotting Rig: Belts with Safety Harnesses (over both 1 meter boards and trampoline): This gives the diver the necessary tools to attempt new dives or new skills safely.
* TiVo Video Equipment: This gives divers instant video feedback during the practice session to visualize improvements.
* FUNdamentals First! Coach Hoffmann strongly believes in teaching the fundamentals of diving first before teaching new dives or "tricks". Safety and understanding from the beginning is very important.
